- Two Mad Dogs Selected for National
Teams
Mad Dog Taylor Witt was selected
to be a member of the United States U18 Major
team and Mad Dog Eric Keene was selected by
the U19 Jr. World Team. They will
both represent the United States in international
competition. This is a huge accomplishment
since, unlike the younger age groups,
there is only one U18 Major team and one U19
team. Thanks for making us all proud!
- Twenty Three Mad Dogs Selected for
National Teams
Congrats to all the Mad
Dogs for an incredible season. Not
only did Mad Dog teams dominate dozens of
tournaments and win two national championships, but
twenty-three Mad Dogs had the honor of being selected
to play for AAU's national Inline teams.
For those who may be interested
in playing for the Mad Dogs next season,
they will be tryouts in mid-March, 2007.
Not all teams have tryouts so keep checking
back with this website as we get closer
to March. As of now, we plan to field
teams in the following areas:
U8 Team ('98 birthday
or younger)
'97 Team
'96 Team
'95 Team
'94 Team
'93 Team
'92 Team
'91 Team
'90 Team
'89 Team
'88 Team
Jr. Team ('87, '86 &
'85)
Adult team ('87 &
Older)
There may also be "B"
teams in the U10, U12, and U14 divisions
depending on the demand for such teams.
Also, some of our teams may play on occasion
during the "off-season", for example,
during the Christmas Holidays. These teams
may be willing to give new players a opportunity
to play with them for such occasions.
As of now, the '88, Jr. team, and adult
Mad Dog teams are
planning to enter
a few events this winter, so if you are
interesting in finding out more about this,
please contact the Mad Dogs at scbaldwin@comcast.net

Mad
Dog '95 Team Wins USAHIL National Championships!

A powerful '95 Mad
Dog team crushed all opponents at the
National USA Inline National Championships
in Shelton, CT June 23-26, 2006.
A total of eight teams participated in
the U10 divison and the teams were
broken into two brackets. In
the semi finals the top two teams in each pool
then played for the Stars Division Championship
and the 3rd and 4th place teams in each
pool competed for the Stripes Division Championship.
The Mad Dogs played a total of five games
over the weekend and had an overall
record of 4-0-1. Their first
game was against the East Fishkill Dragons,
which ended in a tie. As the rolled
toward the final game, the Mad Dogs ended
up facing the East Fishkill Dragons again
in the final game and they hounded them
into submission with a 8-1 score.
Overall, the team scored 37 goals and allowed
12.
Mad Dogs 1995 (2) vs. East
Fishkill Dragons (2)

Congrats to the '95 Team!
- Mad Dog U8 Team Also Wins USAHIL
National Championships

A fast-skating U8 Mad Dog
team went rabid on all opponents at the USA
Hockey Inline National Championships in Shelton,
CT, June 23-25, 2006. There were only
three teams entered into the U8 division but
they were worthy opponents. Most games
were fairly competitive games and the
toughest competitor proved to be CCH Pride, an
all-star team composed of players from three
different leagues in North Carolina.
The Mad Dogs defeated them 3-2 early in the
tournament and then met them again in the
finals beating them 5-2.
The Mad Dogs went through
the entire tournament undefeated. Indeed,
this team went undefeated the entire season
in U8 competition. Named to the All-Tournament
team were Jack Klerekoper and Alex Limoges.
Other members of the team were Matt Moran,
Luke Benitez, A.J. Agena, Nate Carroll, James
Watier, Charlie Berry, Dylan Brink, and Robby
Baldwin. The team was missing two of
its star players, Cade Groton and Logan
Broadbent but decided they would go their
best nonetheless and that they did.
This team was coached by Kris Moran.
Congrats to the Mad Pups!
- Mad Dog Teams
win Three of Four Age Brackets at the USA
Hockey Inline Regionals
The ’95 Mad Dog team
hammered all opponents and easily won the
U10 USA Hockey Inline regional championships
in Winchester this past weekend. In the
U12 Division, the ’93 Mad Dogs team
likewise encountered little opposition and
against the Mavericks, Vipers, etc. The
games were a little more competitive in
the U14 bracket. While the U14 White team
won, the final game was 6-5 over our Maryland
Vipers friends. In the combined U16/U18
bracket, the Mad Dog U18 team succumbed
in the final to the D.C. Selects. Overall,
Mad Dog teams won three age brackets and
place 2nd in another one. Not to bad!
- Twenty Three
Mad Dogs Selected to USA
National Inline Hockey Teams!
Every year, the AAU in coordinated
with the Jr. Olympic Committee, organizes
national inline hockey teams in the U10, U12,
U14 and U16 age brackets. These teams are
broken down into five separate regional teams:
North, South, East, West, and Southwest. In
July, these teams will enter into international
competition against other countries.
Twenty-two Mad Dogs have
been selected to be a member of one of these
teams. Most were selected by the Team USA
South team. Never before have the Mad Dogs
won so many spots on national teams. Indeed,
the Mad Dogs may have more players on the
national teams than any other inline hockey
club in the nation.
Last March, in Richmond,
four Mad Dogs were selected to the U10 Team
South: Devin Brink, Derek Guzik, Nicky Grose,
and Evan Owens. In addition, Ian Jonesi
was selected by the U10 USA Team North.
In the U12 division, Mad
Dogs Eric Baldwin, Alex Grose, Alex Velosky,
and Michael Warner were selected by the
’93 team while Sam Buck was selected
by the ’94 team.
The U14 and U16 tryout
camps took place in Winchester on April
21-23, and Mad Dogs were again dominant.
Six were selected by the ’92 team:
Steve Berry, Charles Baldwin, Justin Lucus,
Min Yoon, Patrick Salkind and Peter Wydler.
One player from the Mad Dog U14 Blue team,
Brian Jones, was assigned to another Team
USA regional team that was in need of another
player.
Five Mad Dogs were selected
to the U16 team: Brett Boss, Bobby Fikac,
Spencer Becker, Brenden Lumsden, and Ryan
Pace.
While the above mentioned teams are organized
by region, a much tougher team to make is
the U18 national team. Only one U18 team
is chosen and this team is extremely difficult
to make. We are very proud that Mad Dog
Augie Gardner was selected to be a member
of this team.
Congratulations to all
the Mad Dogs. You’ve made the club
proud!
- Mad Dog Teams
Participate in ECHO Regional
The '97 Mad Dog team swept to Gold here by
defeating the Richmond Rattlers in the finals
3-2. Mad Dog goalie Garrett Forrest was named
Most Valuable Goalie.
The '90 Mad Dog team also won gold at ECHO
by defeating a very good Dream Sport Dragon
team from North Carolina 5-2 in the championship
game. On their way to the championship game
earlier that same day, the 1990 team defeated
the SVHA Eagles by a score of 7-0 in their
first game, defeated the Potomac Mavericks
team 8-0, but lost to the Dream Sport Dragon
team 5-3 in their 3rd game of the day. Outstanding
team play and goaltending enabled the 1990s
to turn their earlier loss to the Dragons
into a championship victory in the early morning
hours in Fredericksburg.
The '94 Mad Dog team placed second after a
heartbreak loss in the finals to the Wake
Forest Speed 6-5, a team they had defeated
6-1 earlier in the tournament.
The U14 Blue Mad Dog team fought hard but
this was the first time anyone
on this team had ever played together. They
won a few games and a lost a few but didn't
place.
The U12 Blue team had a similar fate as with
two victories over the Ashland Renegades and
Hanover Outlaws but also two losses to the
Potomac Mavericks (0-2) and the '95 Richmond
Rattlers (2-4). They finished fourth.

by Team USA, Ian will represent the USA at

Mad Dog Team Forming!
The
U18 Mad Dog coach Dave Gardner would like
to also form a U21 Inline team to compete
at the highest level of inline hockey. There
will not be a formal tryout for this team
but instead Coach Gardner will ask players
to
come to a practice. If you are 21 are younger
and have a history of playing competitive
inline hockey, then send your name, birth
date, and
a summary of your inline history to Sandy
Witt at Sandra.Witt@fairfaxcounty.gov
