Mad Dogs Win EURO Cup Title!
The only Mad Dog team still competing
this summer found plenty of reasons to smile last
weekend. The '96 Mad Dogs won Major
League Roller Hockey's (MLRH's) EURO
Cup tournament in Laurel, Maryland. The '96 team
led by Coach Greg Folts and Assistant Coach Brad
Piver defeated a Virginia All-Stars team made
up of mostly Richmond Rattlers by an 8-6 score,
and crushed the Ice Dogs 13-0 to win the U12 Division.
The team truly came together with passing, back
checks and scoring. The '96s were thrilled to
have '97 Mad Dogs Jack Klerekoper (winding up
for a monstrous slapshot in the above photo),
Nick Haeff, and Zach Regester join the '96 roster
for the tournament. The kids also had the opportunity
to watch the MLRH pro inline teams play in full
contact games, including the eventual champions
from the Czech Republic. Nice way to end the season
guys!

'93
and '98 Mad Dogs Win Junior Olympics!!
'95s
Take Silver in Elite AAA Division '96s
& U16s also earn medals
All six Mad Dog teams
that competed in the prestigious AAU Junior Olympics
in Feasterville, Pennsylvania won medals.
The biggest accomplishment goes to the '93 Mad
Dog team led by Coach Peter Grose, who won the
14U AA Tier 1 Division and established itself
as a national force in inline hockey and made
its mark on the international hockey scene. The
'93 team finished the tournament with an undefeated
7-0 record in a division containing 20 teams,
including national teams representing the countries
of Great Britain, Namibia, and Columbia, and American
teams from coast to coast. Earlier in the tournament,
the '98 Team struck gold first, as Robbie Baldwin
netted a hat trick in the 10U-A Tier 2 championship
game 8-4 victory against the RBK '98 team from
Michigan. Meanwhile, the '95 White team led by
Coach Marc Cronan was the only Mad Dog team to
play in the elite AAA Division, the highest level
of competition, and the '95s did a very nice job
in earning the 12U AAA Division silver medal.
Cronan's Assistant Coach, Gary Jonesi, also served
as the Head Coach for Team USA South, which beat
Columbia, Great Britain, Australia, and Hong Kong
en route to a silver medal finish in the 12U International
Division competition at the Junior Olympics.
The '93 team's round robin games
went smoothly, as they defeated Great Britain
5-3, then dispatched the Austin (TX) Bulldogs
by an 8-0 mercy score, and then got by the Flash
'94 (NJ) team by a 5-2 margin and rolled over
the Black Beauty Quakes team from California 8-2.
Things got tougher in the playoffs, as the '93s
barely edged the TBD team from Texas 3-2 in the
quarterfinals and eeked by last year's 12U Junior
Olympic champions, the Motor City Moose '94 team
from Michigan, in a 1-0 semi-final contest. That
set up a championship game match against the very
strong Black Ice team from eastern Long Island
(NY). The scored was tied at 2-2 at the beginning
of the second period but things looked grim for
the Mad Dogs late in the game. Down 5-3 in the
waning minutes of regulation, the Mad Dogs refused
to die and gained some hope when they narrowed
the gap to one goal. The Mad Dogs then stunned
Black Ice by scoring with less than 30 seconds
remaining in regulation and almost scored again
before time expired. It took two 18-minute overtimes
to settle the matter, as both the Black Ice goalie
and Mad Dogs '93 goalie Tanner Jones were standing
on their heads making unbelievable saves to keep
both teams alive. Ultimately, it was Andrew Baron
who lifted a rebound into the Black Ice net and
pandemonium ensued as the '93s celebrated their
6-5 gold medal victory while Steve Baldwin (Mad
Dogs Administrator and Board of Directors President,
not to mention father of '93 Mad Dog Eric Baldwin)
proudly looked on. In addition to the team's gold
medal accomplishment, Adam Ware, Andrew Baron,
and goalie Tanner Jones were named to the 14U
"All-American" team. As far as we are
concerned, every single player on the '93 team
is an All-American. They played together brilliantly
and unselfishly, and all are national champions.
Congratulations guys!! (See above video
highlights from the 14U championship game overtime
periods.)
The '95 White team started the
tournament slowly, losing 9-1 to the perenially
strong Black Ice (NY) team, but bounced back to
tie the Flash (NJ) 4-4 and convincingly beat the
Tour Bandits (PA) 8-3 and Australia 9-1. In the
semi-final, goalie Dani Hannan played superbly
and got the Mad Dogs out of some real hairy situations.
The net result was that the '95s crushed the Flash
9-1, setting up another bout with Black Ice. The
championship game was close for awhile, as the
Mad Dogs opened up a 2-1 lead, one of the rare
times in which Black Ice has ever found itself
trailing, but the Mad Dogs could not sustain the
charge and fell 7-2. Trevor Mack, Devin Brink,
Kevin McDonald, Charlie Shepard, and goalie Dani
Hannan were named to the 12U AAA "All American"
team. Great job guys, and thanks to all of our
new friends from Team Australia who joined the
'95s for laser tag, a July 4th barbecue and pool
party, and for cheering us on in the championship
game. "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oy, oy, oy,
doggie, doggie, doggie, oy, oy oy!!"
Also picking up a medal was the
'96 team led by Coach Greg Folts. The '96s earned
a bronze medal in the 12U AA Tier 2 Division afer
beating Hong Kong 6-5 in the 3rd place game on
July 6th. The 16U White team also had a very good
tournament, garnering a 4th place copper medal
finish out of 17 AA Division teams, including
teams from Scotland, Columbia, Great Britain,
and the United States. The 16U team took an undefeated
4-0 round robin record into the playoffs after
beating Mission Rampage (CA) 9-4, the Black Beauty
Quakes Teal team (CA) 7-1, the Stars (MI) 8-1,
and Great Britain 5-3, then beat the Quakes again
in the quarterfinals (4-2), but lost 12-4 to the
Black Ice '91/'92 team (NY) in the semi-finals
and fell just short (4-3) against the Long Island
(NY) Piranhas '91 team in the bronze medal game.

Mad Dogs Take 2d at 2Hot4Ice Nationals!!
The 8U Mad Dogs traveled to Raleigh,
North Carolina on the weekend of June 13-15, 2008,
and took second place in the Gold Division of
the 2Hot4Ice National Championships. Although
a silver medal at Nationals is nothing to sneeze
at, the Mad Dogs had their sights set on gold
after sweeping through four round robin games
and a semi-final playoff game undefeated, including
a convincing 9-3 victory over the eventual champions.
After all
the results were in, however, the
Boom Hockey team had avenged their earlier 9-3
loss to the Mad Dogs by winning an exciting championship
game 4-3 in overtime. Mad Dog Jacob Malasek earned
the tournament's Top Goalie award.

Junior
Olympics Up Next for Mad Dogs
Numerous Mad Dogs teams are preparing
for the AAU/USARS Junior Olympics to be held June
24th through July 6th at the Feasterville Sportsplex
in the Philadelphia area. The Club Division competition
will pit more than 300 American travel inline
teams from around the far reaches of the country
against each other for national bragging rights,
and an International Division will see players
from around the world vying to be the best against
skaters selected to play for Team USA and more
than a dozen countries, including the Czech Republic,
Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Australia, China, Great
Britain, and others.
In order to toughen up before
the Junior Olympics, the '95 Mad Dogs White team
ventured outside its normal Virginia and Maryland
venues on the weekend of June 14-15, 2008, and
played in the 12U AAA Division at the TORHS East
Coast Championships held at the Marple Sports
Arena in Broomall, Pennsylvania. In its first
game on June 14th, the Mad Dogs met their match
in the extremely talented Black
Ice team from the eastern end of
Long Island, New York. Black Ice played a very
physical game, a style that the Mad Dogs were
not used to in the AAU and USA Hockey Inline tournaments
that are usually held in our area. Until the TORHS
referees explained to our coaches how much contact
they were willing to allow (fully half as much
as what is allowed in ice hockey), the Mad Dogs
were under the impression (mistaken as it turns
out) that Black Ice should have been penalized
numerous times, and then the Mad Dogs overcompensated
a bit and took numerous penalties that left them
frequently shorthanded. The net result was a 7-1
loss to Black Ice.
The next two round robin games
went better, as the '95 Mad Dogs convincingly
defeated the Burlington Wave of Ontario, Canada,
by an 8-3 score and the home team Marple Gladiators
by a 7-2 margin. Although there were many notable
moments in those two victories, the highlights
had to be the consecutive "tic-tac-toe"
goals by Julian Cronan and Trevor Mack against
the Burlington Wave, the Kevin McDonald one-timer
slapshot bullet in the same game, and Trevor Mack's
mid-air knock down goal against the Marple Gladiators.
The Mad Dogs' final round robin game was a real
nail biter at 7am on June 15th. The Cougars, from
nearby New Jersey, battled from down one goal
repeatedly during the game and came from behind
to tie the score at 3-3 with less than a minute
remaining. When regulation time ended, the teams
went immediately to a shootout as provided for
in the tournament rules, and the Cougars won the
shootout 2-1. The AAA Division semi-final game
was not only a rematch against the Cougars, but
it also was nearly a carbon copy of the final
round robin game. The very evenly matched teams
played a close game throughout and the Cougars
came from being down a goal to tie the score at
5-5 in the waning moments of regulation, and then
won in a shootout after a 5-minute playoff sudden
death overtime ended without any scoring. The
Mad Dogs were understandably disappointed at ending
up in 3rd place in the elite AAA Division, but
everyone was glad to play some new teams and get
a good sense as to the kind of tough hockey that
they can expect to see at the Junior Olympics.
Nice job guys, and good luck to all Mad Dogs teams
at the Junior Olympics!

Mad
Dogs Blue Take Silver
On June 1, 2008, the '95 Mad Dogs
Blue team competed in the AAU Regional Championships
in Richmond, VA, and came home with a silver medal
in the 12U Division. In their first game of the
tournament, the Blue team eeked out a 4-3 win
over the '95 Virginia State Wars team comprised
of numerous very strong Richmond Rattler '95 players.
The second game was a heartbreaker, as the '95
Blue team led the Crystal Coast team, a North
Carolina State Wars team, but ultimately fell
by a 7-5 score. The final round robin game pitted
the Blue team against the Richmond Rattler '96
team, and the '95 Mad Dogs Blue team earned a
place in the championship game (and a rematch
with the Crystal Coast team) by beating the '96
Rattlers 6-2. In the championship game, the Mad
Dogs struck first, but Crystal Coast tied it up
at 1-1. The Mad Dogs went ahead 2-1, but Crystal
Coast tied it up again. Then Crystal Coast got
a go-ahead goal and scored their 4th goal in the
final minutes, and the Mad Dogs earned a very
respectable second place. Derek Guzik earned Top
Goalie honors and Kevin McDonald (on loan from
the '95 White team) was recognized as the Top
Defensemen of the tournament.

Mad
Dogs Send Shocks Thru The Box
On the weekend of May 17-18, 2008,
six Mad Dogs teams competed in the AAU Regional
Championships at
The Box inline hockey rink in Chantilly, Virginia,
and it's fair to say that the Mad Dogs acquitted
themselves very nicely, ending up with two gold
medals, two silvers, and one bronze. Golds went
to the U8 Team and the '95 Mad Dogs U12 White
Team playing up at the U14 level. Silvers went
to the '93 Mad Dogs U14 Team playing essentially
an "iron man" tournament with at most
six skaters (and much of the tournament with only
3-4 skaters), and to the U16 Blue Team. The '95
Blue Team took bronze in the U12 Division. Dylan
Brink won Top Defenseman honors in the U8 Division,
while Jacob Malasek earned the U8 Top Goalie Honors
in his first time ever playing in net. Cullen
Fleming garnered the Top Defenseman award in the
U16 Division, '95 Mad Dogs White U12 skater Trevor
Mack won Top Forward in the U14 Division, and
'95er Dani Hannan took Top Goalie honors playing
up at the U14 level.
The highest accolades, however,
have to go to the entire '95 Mad Dogs White Team,
who shocked their opponents and won the U14 Division
II title, their third gold medal in their 3-tournament
season thus far. The '95s began the tournament
playing the eventual U14 Division I champions,
the Richmond Rattlers '93 Team. The much smaller
'95 Mad Dogs surprisingly controlled the puck
for large stretches of time and had nearly as
many shots and many good scoring chances, but
could not put one past the Rattlers' enormous
goalie and fell by an 8-0 margin. Despite the
score, the Mad Dogs clearly hung with the Rattlers
and earned the respect of their opponent and everyone
at the rink who watched. The '95 Team next had
a date with their intra-club pals, the '94 Mad
Dogs. Apparently, playing the '93 Rattlers helped
to toughen up the '95s, because the '95 Team crushed
the '94s by a 9-1 score, earning the '95 Team
the top seed in the U14 Division II playoffs and
an appointment with the Fairland Falcons of Laurel,
Maryland. The '95 Mad Dogs readily dispatched
the Falcons by an 8-0 "mercy" score
and rested up for the 11pm championship game against
the top Potomac Mavericks U14 Team, the Mavericks
Blue team composed entirely of '93 players, most
of whom towered over our '95 kids.
The U14 Division II championship
game looked like a classic "David versus
Goliath" matchup, and it started as many
fans would have predicted, with the much older
and bigger Mavericks opening up an early 2-0 lead.
The '95 Mad Dogs, however, kept fighting, and
finally got on the board when Evan Owens deked
his way into some open space in the Maverick's
zone and fired a blistering shot into the back
of the net. Ian Jonesi then tied the score at
2-2 when he knocked in a rebound and the Mad Dogs
started to feel that maybe the momentum was moving
in their direction. A Mavericks goal put the Mad
Dogs behind 3-2, but coolness prevailed and Trevor
Mack converted on an assist by Charlie Shepard
and the score was tied at three. Ian Jonesi then
lifted a shot into the top left corner from close
range and gave the Mad Dogs their first lead at
4-3, and the Mad Dogs fans at The Box were rockin'.
Charlie Shepard added to the Mad Dogs' cushion
when he converted on a pass from Evan Owens, making
it 5-3 and giving the crowd a real sense that
the '95s just might be giant killers and pull
off the upset. The Mavericks struck back and pulled
within 5-4 but that was as close as they would
get, as the '95 Mad Dogs kept playing smart and
hungry hockey, notching additional goals from
Julian Cronan and Trevor Mack to make it 7-4,
and hanging on to win 7-5 behind stellar goaltending
from Dani Hannan, great defense and playmaking
from Justin Mendoza and Nicky Grose, and relentless
pressure from Devin Brink and Kevin McDonald.
Awesome job guys!!

Dogs Rattle Richmond Rink
On the weekend of May 10-11, 2008,
five Mad Dogs team traveled to the Richmond, Virginia
area to compete in the 2Hot4Ice Regional Championships,
and the Mad Dogs walked away with three gold medals
and two silvers. The '95 Mad Dogs (U12) White
team, the '93 Mad Dogs (U14), and the U8 Mad Dogs
won Gold Division championships, while the U16
Mad Dogs and '96 Mad Dogs (U12) took second place
in the Silver Division.
The '95 Mad Dogs started the day
at the Shooters
Sportsplex in Midlothian, the home rink of
the Richmond Rattlers, playing against the '96
Mad Dogs. The '95 team prevailed 8-0 and then
faced the always tough '95 Richmond Rattlers.
The Mad Dogs outshot the Rattlers 27-17 but Rattler
goalie Trevor Dyke made an incredible number of
outstanding saves and the Rattlers prevailed 3-2.
The '95 Mad Dogs sealed their spot in the Gold
Division playoffs by trouncing DC Elite 8-0, and
then advanced to the championship game by beating
the '96 Richmond Rattlers by a 10-2 margin. The
championship game was a rematch with the '95 Rattlers,
and it was as hard fought as the first meeting
of the day. The Mad Dogs fell behind 2-0, but
Devin Brink put the Mad Dogs on the board when
he unleashed a pass from Ian Jonesi into the top
shelf. Justin Mendoza tied the game at 2-2, and
Devin Brink got the third goal, which turned out
to be the game winner. In outscoring its opponents
31-7 during the tournament, the '95 Mad Dogs got
balanced scoring and outstanding goaltending.
2Hot4Ice gave an award to Trevor Mack for most
goals (6) and to Justin Mendoza for most assists
(7), though every single '95 Mad Dog skater scored
multiple points and most got at least six points.
Goalie Daniyal Hannan was dynamite in net, notching
a 1.4 goals against average (GAA) for the tournament.
Hannan's goaltending was even
more remarkable considering that in addition to
the five games he played for the '95 team, he
also played another five games for the '93 Mad
Dogs. That's 10 games in one day!! The '93 Mad
Dogs started the tournament slowly, falling to
the Dream Sports Center (DSC) Dragons Red team
by a 9-6 score, but they rebounded to dominate
in wins over the Fairland Falcons (8-0) and the
Richmond Rattlers Orange team (9-1). In the semi-finals,
the '93 Mad Dogs beat a strong '94 Rattler team
by a 5-2 tally, setting up a rematch with the
DSC Dragons Red team in the championship. Although
exhausted from playing nine games already in one
day, goalie Daniyal Hannan held the Dragons in
check with great support from his teammates, and
the '93 Mad Dogs avenged their earlier loss by
beating the DSC Dragons 4-2 and winning the gold
medal. Overall, the '93 Mad Dogs outcored their
opponents by a 32-14 margin, even while using
a '95 goalie, and Adam Ware earned an award for
most points.
Meanwhile, with fewer teams in
the youngest age divisions, the U8 Mad Dogs played
both U8 and U10 teams in its round robin games,
beating the U10 Potomac Mavericks 4-3 and the
U8 Richmond Rattlers by a 10-5 score, and falling
only to the U10 Rattlers. In the final, the U8
Mad Dogs handled the U8 Rattlers again, this time
by a 7-1 score, giving the Mad Dogs the gold medal
and a happy ride back home to Northern Virginia.

Limited
Time Only!! Order Mad Dogs Shorts
Several
teams are ordering Mad Dogs shorts from Ace Jerseys,
the same company that sells us our uniforms. Contact
your team manager as soon as possible if you are
interested. The more shorts that we order,
the better the price that we get, and we plan
to place the order in the next week or so.
The
shorts will have a design very similar to our
inline hockey pants, with your child's jersey
number on the front and the "dog chains"
running down the sides (see mock-up below), but
the material obviously will be softer than our
inline pants (like standard nylon/polyester shorts)
and they will be about knee-length (not like those
skimpy shorts that us Mad Dogs parents wore in
the 1970's and 80's). We ordered Mad Dogs shorts
for the '95 team a couple of years ago and the
kids really loved them! Hurry and contact your
team manager, as this opportunity will not last
long (this is not a sales pitch as we earn nothing
from these sales).

Mad
Dogs Continue to Roll
On the weekend of
April 18-20, 2008, the Mad Dogs entered eight
teams in the NARCH/USA Hockey Inline Regional
Championships at
The Box inline hockey rink in Chantilly, Virginia.
After all the results
were in, the Mad Dogs had walked away with two
gold medals, three silver medals, and two semi-final
finishes. Overall, it was a very successful weekend,
especially given that most of the Mad Dogs teams
played up one or more age division.
Several Mad Dogs
teams played up an age division in order to challenge
themselves and get ready for the kind of tough
national competition that they expect to face
later in the season. For example, the U8 Mad Dogs
took their 1999 and 2000 birth year squad into
the U10 division and more than held their own.
After losing their opening round robin game 11-1
to the '97 Mad Dogs, the U8 team defeated the
U10 Potomac Mavericks 3-2, and again by a 7-2
score in a game that saw several "highlight
reel" goals, including goals by Chace Shepard
and Trent DeNucccio in which they did their best
Ovechkin-like goal celebrations by slamming their
excited little bodies into the boards.
(See Mad Dogs Video Highlights Now Available on
YouTube.) The win over the Mavericks
earned the U8s a spot in the U10 championship
game against the '97 Mad Dogs. The '97 Mad Dogs,
who ended up outscoring their opponents 35-3 in
the tournament, took the gold medal in an 8-1
victory that saw Mad Dogs '97 skaters Zach Regester,
Charlie Berry, and Jack Klerekoper each "register"
two tallies, while '97s Ture Linden and Luke Benitez
also scored once each. Nick Baltas got the lone
goal for the scrappy U8 team.
The '95 Mad Dogs
Blue (U12) team also played up an age level and
did a very nice job in the U14 division. After
losing their first game by a 9-5 score to the
'94 Mad Dogs, they beat the Fairland Falcons 4-1,
a new team from the Laurel, Maryland area, and
then they beat a strong Potomac Mavericks U14
team by a slim 2-1 margin. Due to a scheduling
error, however, the '95 Blue team had to play
its next game without any rest at all. For more
than half the game, they stayed with the tall
and fast 93/94 Maryland Thrasher team from Waldorf,
Maryland, but ultimately their legs gave out and
they fell 8-0 and their tournament was over. Meanwhile,
the '94 Mad Dogs also disposed of the Fairland
Falcons, winning a 6-2 round robin game. The '94
Mad Dogs, however, had to settle for a silver
medal because they could not solve the tall and
fast 93/94 Thrashers, losing 6-4 in a round robin
game and 7-4 in the championship game.
The U12 ('96) Mad
Dogs team played in its own age division and finished
its round robin games undefeated, beating the
Potomac Mavericks Blue team 8-0, earning a 1-0
forfeit over the Fairland Falcons, and edging
a DC Elite team (comprised mostly of former Mad
Dogs) by a narrow 3-2 margin. DC Elite, however,
got its revenge, winning the championship game
8-3 and making the '96 Mad Dogs settle for silver.
The '93 Mad Dogs
U14 team joined the Mad Dogs U16 White and U16
Blue teams in the 8-team U16/U18 division. The
'93s played impressively, beating the Virginia
Stars 7-1 and the Prince William Panthers 7-0.
Then they had to face big brother, and lost to
the Mad Dogs U16 White team by a 10-2 score (see
video above). In the semi-finals, the '93s gave
the older Potomac Mavericks a tough time and fell
only by a narrow 3-1 margin. Meanwhile, the Mad
Dogs U16 Blue team beat the Maryland Thrashers
6-2 and the Rolling Blackouts 3-1, but fell to
the Mavericks 7-0 and were eliminated in the semi-finals
by the Mad Dogs U16 White team in an 8-1 contest.
In the championship game, the two dominant teams
faced off: the host team Potomac Mavericks and
the Mad Dogs U16 White team. With a roster that
included three former Mad Dogs, the Mavericks
were expected to give the Mad Dogs a difficult
time. However, with a flurry of precise passes,
the Mad Dogs scored six unanswered goals in the
first eight minutes of the game. The Mavericks
rallied and came within two goals of the Mad Dogs.
However, a late surge by the Mad Dogs clinched
the championship by a 9-6 score, marking the U16
Mad Dogs' third gold medal in three weeks and
demonstrating the team's dominance of the local
inline hockey scene.

On the weekend of

season on a strong note, entering six teams in
the AAU Regional Championships at The
Box inline hockey rink in Chantilly, Virginia,
and walking away with gold medals for the '95

for Team '98 (U10) and the U16 Blue Team, a third
place finish for the '93 (U14) Team that played
up in the U16 division, and a semi-final showing
for the U12 ('96) Team.
Nine teams entered
the U12 division, which was split between five
teams in the A division and four teams in the
AA division. In the AA Division, the '95 Mad Dogs
White Team played a tough Dream Sports Center
(DSC) Red Team from North Carolina to a 3-3 tie
during regulation of its first round robin game.
To the Mad Dogs' surprise, instead of ending the
round robin game as a tie, the tournament organizer
set up the rules to provide for a 3-minute 3-on-3
overtime. Due to a Mad Dogs penalty in the waning
moments of regulation, however, the '95 Team played
shorthanded (3-on-2) during the overtime, fighting
valiantly for almost two minutes but ultimately
losing 4-3 on a back door goal by the DSC Dragons
Red team. The '95 Mad Dogs bounced back in their
next game, beating the Potomac Mavericks Blue
team 8-0. The Mad Dogs' third and final round
robin game was against their longtime rival, the
Richmond Rattler '95 team, and the '95 Mad Dogs
needed not only a win, but also needed to hold
the Rattlers to less than three goals in order
to gain a spot in the championship game. The Rattlers,
who had only a 1-game rest, could not keep up
with the swarming Mad Dogs, as the '95 Mad Dogs
won a convincing 7-1 victory and a rematch with
the DSC Dragon Red team in the championship. Although
this time it was the Mad Dogs who played on only
a 35-minute rest, they played like a team possessed,
controlling the puck masterfully in a 5-0 shutout
over the DSC Dragons Red team and winning the
gold medal. On their way
to outscoring its U12 AA division opponents 23-5,
'95 Mad Dog Daniyal Hannan took top goalie honors
and Justin Mendoza earned the tournament's award
for top defenseman.
In the U12 A division,
the U12 ('96) Mad Dogs Team faced stiff competition
from DC Elite, the Richmond Rattler '96 and '97
teams, and the Potomac Mavericks Gold team. The
U12s fought hard and made it to the semi-finals
before being eliminated by a scrappy Rattler '96
team.
In the U10 division,
the Mad Dogs '98 Team lost to the Rattler '98
team by a 9-4 score in a round robin game, but
then came back to beat the Potomac Mavericks 8-0
in the semi-finals and advance to the championship
game, a rematch against the Rattler '98 team.
In an exciting game that went down to the final
seconds, the Mad Dogs gave the Rattlers a tough
time but ultimately fell just a tad short, claiming
the silver medal in a 4-3 contest.
In the U16 competitive
division, the Mad Dogs took the top three spots,
with the U16 White team winning the gold, the
U16 Blue team taking the silver, and the younger
'93 (U14) team grabbing the bronze.
