U8 Team ('01, '02)
Head Coach: John
Young
Coach Young moved to the National Capital
area from the New York/New Jersey area eight years ago.
He has spent the last 30 years of his life playing hockey
and is presently playing on two men's inline teams at
The Box. During his short inline career, he has represented
the Commonwealth of Virginia at the 2009 State Wars
tournament as part of the Senior Masters (over 35) team
in Cincinnati, Ohio. Coach Young was originally a goaltender
and played in the nets for the Rye (New York) Junior
Rangers and for Clarkson University. Upon leaving Clarkson,
Coach Young began his "second career" as a
forward and part-time defenseman. He has since played
for the F.B.I. (New York) Law Enforcement Ice Hockey
Team (eight years), which played in police tournaments
throughout the United States and Canada. He has also
played for the Fairfax Fire Department team and was
a certified USA Hockey ice hockey referee for two years
since his move to Northern Virginia. For the last few
seasons he has coached hockey teams at the Ashburn Ice
House, in the Ashburn Inline Hockey League, and at The
Box. He helped to coach the 2009 Mad Dogs 8U team that
won every tourament it entered except for one. When
Coach Young is not helping area youth in the hockey
rink, he is helping to keep them safe from illegal drugs
during his day job as an agent with the Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA). He and his wife, Thomasina, live
in the Broadlands, Virginia area with three children,
Logan (10U Mad Dog), Landon (8U Mad Dog), and Lainey.
Asst. Coach: Sean
Evans
Coach Evans has lived in the Northern
Virginia region his whole life. He has spent the last
20 years playing ice or inline hockey through out the
region. He currently plays on an adult inline hockey
team at The Box, and won the championship last season.
He has been coaching in the Potomac Inline Hockey League
for the past three years. His teams have consistently
played in the championship games in this league. When
Coach Evans is not helping area youth in the hockey
rink, he is helping to keep them safe from fire during
his day job as a Fire Captain for the Fairfax County
Fire and Rescue Department. He and lives in the South
Riding area of Loudoun County, and enjoys spending time
with his wife, Aimee, and two children, Jenna and Justin
(8U Mad Dog).

Mike
McMahon
Coach McMahon moved to the northern Virginia
area in 2005, after living in Delaware and Arizona.
He grew up playing hockey on the streets, and developed
a love of the game. Since 2006, he has been either a
coach or an assistant coach with Potomac Inline Hockey
(PIHI) at The Box and was also an assistant coach with
Ashburn Inline Hockey last season. When not helping
area youth at the hockey rink, Coach McMahon spends
his time working at Trader Joe’s. He lives in
the Centreville area with his wife, Sue Murphy, and
enjoys spending time with their children, Mason (10U
Mad Dog) and Sedona.
U12 Team ('97, '98)
Head Coach: Hugo
Cordova
Coach Cordova, being a native of Lima,
Peru, grew up playing soccer and was never exposed to
ice hockey or inline hockey until his boys were coaxed
into playing ice hockey by a neighbor in 1998. It was
then that he was bitten by the hockey bug and contracted
"puckitis." He is a Level 3 Certified USA
Hockey Coach and has been a Head Coach and Assistant
Coach from House level to the CBHL Bantam AA level for
the Prince William Hockey Club over the past 10 years,
and has enjoyed much success along the way, including
winning both CBHL Squirt "A" playoff and regular
season championships, as well as the CBHL Pee Wee "AA"
playoff championship. He is currently an assistant coach
for the Woodbridge High School varsity ice hockey team.
Hugo has also been a head coach for many years for the
’92 inline teams at both Prince William and Mad
Dogs Hockey, as well as his current position as a coach
for the ‘98 Mad Dogs. He enjoys playing in the
adult ice hockey league as well as following his three
boys up and down the East Coast for both ice and inline
games. Coach Cordova believes wholeheartedly in the
cross training benefits that come from transitioning
between ice hockey and inline hockey. His coaching philosophy
is centered on the expectation that every skater will
exhibit an unselfish and relentless desire to be a team
player.

Kline
'96 Team (U14)
Head Coach: Greg
Folts
Coach Folts has been coaching travel hockey
for four years, including serving as an Assistant Coach
for the ’96 Ashburn Xtreme travel ice team, Virginia
Wild travel ice team, and the Mad Dogs inline hockey
team. He also coaches Little League Baseball and softball.
Asst Coach: Alex
Eng
Coach Eng has been active in hockey for
the past 10 years, and during that time his passion
for the game has struck him like a disease. He began
in the streets, playing with the neighborhood kids.
From there, he branched into inline hockey and ice hockey
as a goalie, defenseman, and forward. He is the Executive
Director of the Prince William Hockey Club-Inline (PWHC-IL),
where he is responsible for overseeing all facets of
the club's inline program. Over the past five years,
he also has coached in the House League and with the
Sabres travel program. Coach Eng enjoys seeing the kids
develop skills both as a player and as part of a team.
As a coach, he focuses on teamwork and making the game
of hockey exciting and fun for the team. Off the rink,
he enjoys time with his family, church, boating and
scuba diving.
'95 Team (U14)
Head Coach: Peter
Grose
Coach Grose hails from Canada and works
as a financial advisor. He has many years of coaching
experience, including coaching the Pope Paul VI and
Fairfax High School Ice Hockey teams and travel teams
in both the Reston Raiders and Ashburn Xtreme travel
ice hockey organizations. In 2006 and 2007, Peter coached
the ’93 Mad Dogs team to the final four in the
AAU Jr. Olympics in Detroit and in 2008 he coached the
'93s to the 14U AA Division championship at the AAU
Jr. Olympics in Feasterville, PA, and in 2009 his team
repeated as champion when they won the 14U A Division
championship at the AAU Jr. Olympics held again in Feasterville,
PA.
Asst. Coach: Gary
Jonesi
Mad Dogs Administrator, Webmaster, and
Assistant Coach Gary Jonesi spent much of his youth
on the sidelines, bench, or in the dugout, watching
his father (a former professional baseball catcher)
coach football, basketball, and baseball for Chicago
public high schools. After a successful high school
wrestling career, Gary went to the University of Illinois
and then to law school at Hofstra University in New
York. In 1985, he moved to Washington, D.C., to work
for the U.S. EPA, where he is currently a senior enforcement
attorney. In 2001, Gary's two sons started playing inline
hockey in Northern Virginia, and Gary has been hooked
on the sport since then, skating on adult inline teams
and coaching numerous youth teams with Potomac Inline
Hockey and the Mad Dogs, including serving as an Assistant
Coach for the '95 Mad Dogs team that won the 2005 AAU/USARS
U10 National Championship, the silver medal in the 12U
AAA Division of the 2008 AAU Jr. Olympics, a gold medal
in the 14U AA Tier II Division at the 2009 AAU Jr. Olympics,
and as Head Coach of the U10 Mad Dogs team that placed
2d in the 2006 USA Hockey Inline National Championship
(Stripes Division). Gary also served as the Head Coach
for Team USA (South), which won the 12U silver medal
at the 2008 AAU Junior Olympics.
'93 Team (U16)
Head Coach: Peter
